Shy Girl

Shy Girl is a great name for the latest addition to my lipstick collection because it definitely fits those who may be looking for a subtle touch of color or the ultimate nude lip.  If you're looking for a nude color that's sure to flatter your complexion and give you the perfect pout to match a smokey eye or everyday natural look, then look no further!  Let me first say that I absolutley love Back to MAC!  For thoses of you who don't know, it's a program by MAC that accepts returns of it's primary packaging.  If you return 6 items at a time, you can receive a free lipstick (if your at a MAC counter).  If you're at a MAC store, you may receive a free lipstick, eyeshadow, or lipgloss....So remember, don't throw away your empty containers!  At any rate, I returned my 6 items this weekend at the MAC counter to receive a free lipstick and knew right away after trying on Shy Girl that I needed it to be apart of my life!  I love, love, love this color.  I would describe it as a creamy peachy-beige.  It's a creamsheen lipstick so it goes on very smooth, has a creamy feel, and gives subtle shine.  This color can be worn alone, no lipliner needed.  It can be an everyday color that matches just about any makeup look and any skin color.  I'll definitely be keeping this in my purse, for it is a no-fail color that you can wear whenever you're in doubt.  Check it out!

Purple Craze

Hey divas!

Lately, I've been taking an interest in the color purple.  I've always liked the color, but I never cared to wear it on my nails or lips.  Well, that's over!  I've recently become obsessed with a new lipstick that's apart of MAC's new Strength Collection for Spring 2013.  The lipstick is called "Strong Woman" and it is absolutely fabulous!  I had no intentions on buying it when I did.  I was actually just trailing along with my sister to one of her weekly MAC visits, and she asked the MUA about it.  Apparently, she saw it on a young lady who posted a pic of it on Instagram.  After seeing the picture, not only was she hooked, but I now was too!  I tried the color on, and it was super haute!!!  It's a pinkish-purple with a matte finish.  I think the matte finish is what makes it so alluring.  It's not in your face, but it is oh so seductive.  Needless to say, when I wore it out for the first time, I was out on a date with my hunny, and well...let's just say I must have seemed very kissable that night :-).  What I love most of all was the stay power.  It lasts all day long with no need to retouch.  It's definitely a must-have for every brown girl, but before you rush to the nearest MAC store to buy it, don't be surprised if it's sold out because it is limited edition.
(Pic Above:  Not sure why but the color seems lighter in pics, but it's a deeper and brighter in person.)

On another note, I've been in bad need of a manicure!  I went to the nail salon to give my fingernails a "pick me up", and I came across this beautiful, rich purple.  It's actually a gel polish so my manicure has been long lasting.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take down the name and brand before leaving the salon, but I had to blog about it because this is the first purple nail color that I've fallen in love with.  I promise to get a name when I return next weekend.  In the meantime, take a look at how hot this color is.  I'll be sure to give you a full description of the product in another post.

Until next time!

Nude Lips

Lately, I've been on a quest to find the perfect nude.  So far, I've found two colors that are great nude colors to consider for darker skin tones.  They are MAC's Myth and Mary Kay's liquid lipstick in Malted.   MAC's Myth is a beigy nude and MK's Malted is a pinkish brown nude.  Both colors are simply beautiful nudes, it just depends on what kind of look you want.  I personally think they look quite similar. I prefer pinkish brown nudes more, so Malted is my favorite, however MAC's Myth can give the exact same look if I define it with a nude tone liner such as MAC's Stripdown lip pencil or it's dupe, NYX's lip liner in Natural.

It looks the same to me.  Can you tell the difference?

Up the Amp

Today, I decided to "up the amp" to create a soft violet lip.  MAC's Up the Amp is one of my favorite lip colors and is a go to color whenever I want a pop of sultry color that doesn't scream, "Look at me!"  Up the Amp is a purplish pink with an amplified texture.  The color is what I would describe as mauve. The amplified texture makes it intense with color and very smooth to apply.  It literally feels as smooth as silk when it glides across your lips.  I love it!  If you're looking for a dupe however, check out Revlon's Berry Haute.  It's very close in color.  I'll upload swatches to show you soon.  Check it out...

I'm a Rebel!

I'm having so much fun playing with colors.  Lately, I just can't seem to get enough of statement lips.  I decided however that since fall is approaching, my favorite season, that it's time to play with deep berries.  MAC's Rebel has been my "go to" lipstick when I need that "Oh so sexy, berry" look.  It's a beautiful wine color that I believe is a must for all women of color.  It's beautiful when worn alone with no lipliner.  I actually prefer it with a simple face.  I played up my eyes just a tad, but nothing too extreme.  MAC's Rebel is a great choice for the upcoming season.

So, since we're talking about playing with color.  I can't seem to get enough of my new nail color called, "Jackie, Oh!".  In honor of my bestie, Jackie, I've been wearing this color out.  It's definitely not your typical fall pick but hey, it's still technically summer, LOL.  This was actually a nail salon color pick, however, when she put it on me, I just had to go out and buy it.  It's by Color Club and can be ordered on Amazon for as little as $.25....I'm not kidding!  What's so impressive is the fact that it doesn't chip easliy and is rich in color.  I'm sold!  Check it out!....

So Chaud

Hey divas!

I've been doing lots of shopping, so I've been spending lots of money and adding colors to my makeup collection.  This color in particular, I just had to blog about.  Like it's name, it's so chaud (chaud is French for "hot and risky").  It's a matte orange-red.  Since getting my hair colored last week, I've been gravitating towards warmer shades, hence the reason this color was right on time.  It has a very vintage like 80s feel to it.  I felt like Wilma Flinstone when I put it on, LOL!  It's a little drying, so a lip moisturizer may be necessary underneath.  It has great staying power as well!  I literally almost scraped the skin off my lips trying to get it off, however a little vaseline did just fine to remove.  I went simple with the rest of my face seeing as how this color makes a statement on it's own.  MAC's So Chaud is definitely a nice color for the summer and can easily transition into the fall.  Check it out!...

Girl About Town

Hey divas!  I've been really busy these past couple weeks.  I've headed back to work, so I've been running around trying to get my classroom in order while still attending meetings, back to school shopping, and lesson planning.  Whew!  It's been crazy, but I made time to go to church to help me relax and start off the school year right.  I decided to go with a very vibrant look this day, so I added a bright pink pout.  This color is MAC's Girl About Town and it has an amazing texture and finish.  It's a beautiful, bright pink with cool blue undertones.  I love that it can be worn alone without a lip liner.  It's a color that can easily transition from day to night.  It's definitely a must have for every brown skinned diva!  Check it out...
