Up the Amp

Today, I decided to "up the amp" to create a soft violet lip.  MAC's Up the Amp is one of my favorite lip colors and is a go to color whenever I want a pop of sultry color that doesn't scream, "Look at me!"  Up the Amp is a purplish pink with an amplified texture.  The color is what I would describe as mauve. The amplified texture makes it intense with color and very smooth to apply.  It literally feels as smooth as silk when it glides across your lips.  I love it!  If you're looking for a dupe however, check out Revlon's Berry Haute.  It's very close in color.  I'll upload swatches to show you soon.  Check it out...

I'm a Rebel!

I'm having so much fun playing with colors.  Lately, I just can't seem to get enough of statement lips.  I decided however that since fall is approaching, my favorite season, that it's time to play with deep berries.  MAC's Rebel has been my "go to" lipstick when I need that "Oh so sexy, berry" look.  It's a beautiful wine color that I believe is a must for all women of color.  It's beautiful when worn alone with no lipliner.  I actually prefer it with a simple face.  I played up my eyes just a tad, but nothing too extreme.  MAC's Rebel is a great choice for the upcoming season.

So, since we're talking about playing with color.  I can't seem to get enough of my new nail color called, "Jackie, Oh!".  In honor of my bestie, Jackie, I've been wearing this color out.  It's definitely not your typical fall pick but hey, it's still technically summer, LOL.  This was actually a nail salon color pick, however, when she put it on me, I just had to go out and buy it.  It's by Color Club and can be ordered on Amazon for as little as $.25....I'm not kidding!  What's so impressive is the fact that it doesn't chip easliy and is rich in color.  I'm sold!  Check it out!....

So Chaud

Hey divas!

I've been doing lots of shopping, so I've been spending lots of money and adding colors to my makeup collection.  This color in particular, I just had to blog about.  Like it's name, it's so chaud (chaud is French for "hot and risky").  It's a matte orange-red.  Since getting my hair colored last week, I've been gravitating towards warmer shades, hence the reason this color was right on time.  It has a very vintage like 80s feel to it.  I felt like Wilma Flinstone when I put it on, LOL!  It's a little drying, so a lip moisturizer may be necessary underneath.  It has great staying power as well!  I literally almost scraped the skin off my lips trying to get it off, however a little vaseline did just fine to remove.  I went simple with the rest of my face seeing as how this color makes a statement on it's own.  MAC's So Chaud is definitely a nice color for the summer and can easily transition into the fall.  Check it out!...

Girl About Town

Hey divas!  I've been really busy these past couple weeks.  I've headed back to work, so I've been running around trying to get my classroom in order while still attending meetings, back to school shopping, and lesson planning.  Whew!  It's been crazy, but I made time to go to church to help me relax and start off the school year right.  I decided to go with a very vibrant look this day, so I added a bright pink pout.  This color is MAC's Girl About Town and it has an amazing texture and finish.  It's a beautiful, bright pink with cool blue undertones.  I love that it can be worn alone without a lip liner.  It's a color that can easily transition from day to night.  It's definitely a must have for every brown skinned diva!  Check it out...

L'Orange

Okay..so Ulta had a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale on Loreal nail colors, so I bought 2.  I bought Club Prive (which I've previously blogged about) and L'OrangeL'Orange is a beautiful, vibrant orange nail color that is perfect for the Summer and can easily transition into fall.  I must say that I'm pretty impressed with the nail color selections that Loreal has to offer, not to mention the staying power.  This polish does not chip any more than my OPI colors do and they are very vibrant.  Definitely not bad for $4!  You can buy these colors at Ulta, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Walmart, or wherever Loreal products are sold.

Ruby Woo

When it comes to red lips, Ruby Woo is hands down my fav lip color!  It's the ultimate true red with a vintage feel due to it's matte finish.  This lipstick screams sexy and whenever I wear it, I feel smoldering hot!  Last night, I attended a Miller Lite comedy event and I wanted to up the amp (another name of a fav MAC lipstick of mine, LOL) with red hot shoes and sexy ruby lips.  What's better is that I did not have to touch up my lipstick the entire night because it did not budge.  Check it out!

Turned up Turquoise (Neon)

Hey y'all!  I've been meaning to post about this color because when I wore it, I received so many compliments.  I admit that before trying it, I was a bit intimidated.  Let me be clear...it's really bright!  But, I think that's what makes this color so hot!  It's China Glaze's nail color in Turned up Turquoise (Neon).  I purchased this color at Sally's for $6.99.  You can find it at Ulta as well for the same price.

Sorry about all the shine.  I love vaseline on my feet!  Well actually, let me not apologize...I rather shine than ash, LOL.

Club Prive

So, my latest obsession has been nail colors.  As you all know, my fav color is pink and it's been very hard to try other colors.  I typically always gravitate towards pinks, but lately, I've been trying to experiment with new colors and have fun since it's summertime.  I saw this color on a friend, and ran to the nearest store to find it.  It's Loreal's nail color in #105 Club Prive.  Super hot!  It looks like an Easter teal.  Soft, yet funky!  I bought this color, along with another that I'll be posting about soon, from Ulta.  Loreal nail colors were on sale buy one get the one 50% off, so I bought 2.  All together I paid $8.39.  Not bad!  That's about the same price I pay for one OPI color.  Needless to say, I'll be rocking this color a lot!  Tell me what you think! :-)

Pink Glam?

Pink Glam?  What does that mean anyway?  Well, I can remember as a little girl being obsessed with the color pink because it seemed to represent everything "girly".  I mean, really....think about it.  When you go to a baby shower, if the mother is having a girl,  pink fills the room.  If the mother's  having a boy, there's no pink in sight.  Seriously...some men feel uncomfortable wearing pink for this very reason.  Pink glam means everything girly and glamorous.  Well, that's me-- girly and glam!  Ever since I can remember, I've always been obsessed with beauty.  Whether it was makeup, skin care, nail color, hair, you name it.  If it made me feel beautiful, I loved it!

This blog is dedicated to everyone like me.  It's dedicated to all divas who love to look good and cringe at the thought of not having access to beauty essentials.  Most importantly, it's for the diva on a budget who still wants to look fly without having to result to Ramen Noodles until next pay day.  Hey Divas!  I'm Sharia Nicole.  Nice to meet ya and welcome to the Pink Glam Cafe!

I got the BLUES!

So, I decided to stop laying around the house and take my friend up on an invite to a birthday party.  Initially I was in a funk (I litterally had the BLUES), and I decided it would be best to get up, get out, and get something (Ha! Wasn't that a song by Macy Gray?) to clear my mind of the drama!  Needless to say, I threw on a jumpsuit, tossed my hair up in a bun, accessorized, and played up my eyes with shades of blue.  I loved how it came out.  Take a look!...

Orange you glad I chose this shade!

Okay...Let me first start off by saying that I'm such a lipgloss girl, especially pink glosses.  Lately, I've been experimenting with lots of color and lipsticks to give my pout a pop and I must say that I'm glad I started stepping out of my comfort zone.  The newest addition to my lipstick collection has been MAC's Morange.  This color looks very intimidating, but once you try it on...it's a WINNER!  Especially for us women of color.  I lined it with MAC's cork lip liner just to mute it a tad.  I decided to keep everything else on my face simple.  Viola!
